West Denver TU is recruiting two or more coordinators for our Windy Peak educational program. Windy Peak is Jefferson County’s outdoor lab school located near Bailey. Our role there is to teach 6th graders about TU, conservation, fly tying, and fishing. Our half day program includes 45 minutes of classroom discussion, 45 minutes of fly tying instruction, and an hour of fishing. We often do a morning and afternoon session with lunch provided.
You as coordinator:
- Like to work with kids
- Are comfortable leading a discussion with around ten 6th graders
- Will devote 5 to 8 days annually to the program
- Can work with other volunteers and Jeffco teachers
You’re NOT necessarily (can be of course!):
- A fly tyer
- A fly fisher (or spin fisher, for that matter)
- An expert on anything
This is a very satisfying program. The kids, their teachers, and the Windy Peak staff are all great. Participating is fun, will warm your heart, and give you the knowledge that you have made a difference in the lives of these young people.
