The 2002 Windy Peak Open House was very successful due to good weather, hard working chapter volunteers and some 1200 plus district parents and children attending. Three special guests were also in attendance for the formal Nelson Pond dedication and witness the partnership of the Windy Peak School and West Denver. These guests include: Vince Choudhury, Jefferson County Public Schools board member, Ken McClatchy, Colorado Trout Unlimited President and Anne Mangusso, Bailey area Colorado Division of Wildlife officer. West Denver is proud and appreciative these individuals took time to view and experience what West Denver and the school district have accomplished. Open House activities provided by WDTU included fly-tying demonstrations and instruction, casting instruction and entomology discussions. The chapter also served lunch to 500 guests, which netted $728. The net proceeds will be returned to the school to help develop an educational interpretive center to be located around Nelson Pond. Many thanks to all volunteers and friends who contributed to the day's success. Thank you, Barbi Beres,David Brady, Laura & Kent Fishman, Paul Harrison, Bruce & Ken Hoehn, Jim Hughes, Kay & Harry Ledyard, Sandy Long, Charles Nelson, Harry Olson, Vern Plotts, Kaz Rachak, Bruce Schwartz, Bill Searles, Bob Untener, Jim VanLiere, Doris Wilson.
